Scandinavian studies have long tradition at the Charles University going back to the 19th century.
Danish, Norwegian and Swedish can be studied as separate study program since 1969.

In addition to Czech staff, the Scandinavian Department also has three lecturers – native speakers from Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The existence of three Scandinavian lecturers in one institution is unique in the Czech Republic and is only at highly prestigious universities.
